Ingredients
1/2 Kg Chicken
2 cups or 400 grams Jeera Samba rice or Basmati rice.
1/4 cup Oil
1 tbsp. Ghee
2 Bay Leaf
2 Cardamom pods
2 Inch Cinnamon stick
4 Cloves
1 tsp Fennel seeds
1 Star Anise
2 Onions sliced
2 Tomatoes chopped
1/4 cup Freshly chopped coriander leaves
1/4 cup Freshly chopped mint leaves
5 cups Water
Salt to taste
1 tbsp. Lemon juice
- Marinate:
1/2 kg Chicken
2 tbsp. Ginger and garlic paste
4 Green Chilies (add as per requirement)
1 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
1/2 tsp Red chili powder
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Coriander powder
1 tsp Garam masala or biryani masala
1/4 cup Thick curd
1 tsp Salt
Directions
- Firstly to marinate: Take a mixing bowl and add in cleaned fresh chicken, ginger, garlic and green chili paste.
- Then add in red chili powder, kashmiri chili powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder.
- Thick curd and salt to taste.
- Give a mix and allow it to marinate for 30 to 60 minutes.
- Heat pressure cooker and add in oil, fennel seeds, bay leaf, cloves, star anise, cinnamon stick and cardamom.
- Sliced onions. Sauté till the onions are fried till slightly brown.
- Later add in chopped tomato. Sauté till the tomatoes are softly cooked.
- Further, add in marinated chicken and give a mix.
- Add in soaked Jeera samba rice or basmati rice.
- Add in required water and salt to taste.
- Then add in freshly chopped coriander and mint leaves.
- 1 to 2 tbsp. of ghee.
- Allow it boil. Check salt and spice at this stage. If required add in. Later squeeze 1 tbsp. lemon juice.
- Then close the lid and pressure cook it for 2 whistles.
- Finally, Pressure Cooker Chicken Biryani is ready to serve.

- Instead of chicken you can also use mutton, eggs too.
