INGREDIENTS USED IN MAKING TOMATO CHUTNEY:

TOMATO: Tomato is the primary ingredient used in this recipe. So, it always better to use ripe, red and juicy tomatoes for making this amazing chutney. It is very important to use good quality tomatoes for tasty chutney.

GARLIC: Adding garlic gives a nice flavor and taste to chutney.

Dry RED CHILIES: Further adding dry chilies gives chutney a vibrant red color and spicy taste to the chutney. Or else you can also use green chilies or red chili powder instead of dry red chilies. But the taste may vary.

TAMARIND: It gives chutney a sweet and tangy flavor. But be careful while adding tamarind as the tomatoes are also tangy and sour in taste. Add little if required you can add more or less.

WATER: So, if you want watery chutney add more water. If you want thick chutney don’t add water, as the tomato itself contains moisture in it.

ONION: You can use any tomato of your choice like shallots or big onions. But usually, I prefer adding shallots to chutney, as it adds a extra taste to the chutney.

SEASONING: Later, when it comes to seasoning. In a pan you can add oil, mustard seeds, urad dal (optional) and curry leaves. And then transfer it to chutney, then give a mix.
