Mint Chicken or Hariyali Chicken

Mint Chicken or hariyali chicken is a delicious chicken recipe. It is one of my favorite chicken recipe. It goes well with chapati, hot steamed rice, jeera rice, coconut rice, ghee rice, kushka, chapati, dosa. Ingredients used in this recipe are chicken, onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, cloves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, fennel seeds, potato, green peas, mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chilies, coriander powder, roasted channa dal, poppy seeds, fresh coconuts, oil, water as required, salt as pet taste.

Adding potato and green peas is purely optional. To make the dish more flavorful we can add in cashew paste, not only the cashew paste make the recipe more tasty but also it makes the gravy thick, rich and delicious. Here I have used coconut instead of cashew nuts.

Mint Chicken or Haryali Chicken

Mint chicken or haryali chicken is a delicious and tasty chicken recipe, it goes well with hot steamed rice, chapati and dosa.

  • ½ kg Fresh Chicken
  • 1 Onions
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • few Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Water (As required)
  • Salt (As per taste)

For Grinding

  • ½ cup Mint leaves
  • ⅓ cup Coriander leaves
  • 1 Onion
  • ¼ cup Fresh Coconuts
  • 10 cloves Garlic
  • ½ inch Ginger
  • 2 Cloves, Cardamom, Cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tbsp Roasted channa dal
  • ¼ tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp Poppy seeds
  • 5 Green Chilies
  1. Dry roast all the ingredients, add in onion, coconut, mint and coriander leaves, green chilies, cloves, cardamom, cinnamom sticks, fennel seeds, ginger and garlic, roasted channa and poppy seeds. Take a mixer jar and Make a paste it.

  2. Take a pan and add in oil, onion, and curry leaves. Fry for a minute.

  3. Add in tomatoes, salt and chicken. Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes in low flame.

  4. Add in the grounded paste and coriander powder to the chicken. Close the lid and cook for 10 minutes in low flame.

  5. Add in potato and green peans, pressure cook for one whistle.

  6. After one whistle check the salt and spice level, it required you can add at this stage.

  7. Now the mint chicken or hariyali chicken is ready to serrve with steamed rice, chapati or dosa.
