Moong Dal Halwa

Moong Dal Halwa is a traditional and healthy dessert recipe made with green gram split. Step by step pictures and instructions of Moong dal halwa is given below. I tasted this halwa from one of the restaurant , from that day on wards it has become my all time favorite dessert. The ingredients used in this recipe are very handy.

Ingredients Used:

Moong dal, sugar, milk, water, ghee, rava, gram flour.

Methods:

  1. Firstly rinse moong dal for 2 to 3 times.
  2. Allow it to dry on cotton cloth for 10 minutes.
  3. Then heat a pan and add in oil, dry fruits or your choice. Saute till it changes its color to golden color.
  4. In the same pan, add in oil or ghee and moong dal, dry roast till it turns to golden color.
  5. Transfer the roasted moong dal into the mixer jar, along with that add in rava, roasted channa.
  6. Grind it into a smooth powder.7.
  7. Again heat a pan and add in ghee.8
  8. Then add in ground powder.
  9. Fry till the raw smell goes away.
  10. Later add in one cup of water. Keep stirring till the water is completely observed.
  11. Later add in Milk and give a mix without any lumps.
  12. Now add in 2 tbsp of ghee and give a mix.
  13. Close the lid and cook for another 6 to 8 minutes.
  14. And then add in sugar and give a mix. Allow the sugar to melt.
  15. Now add in 2 tbsp of ghee, give a mix.
  16. Cook till the ghee getting separated. Now the halwa is ready.
  17. Finally add in fried dry fruits and give a mix.
  18. Finally tasty and delicious Moong Dal Halwa is ready to serve.

  • 1 tbsp Dry grapes
  • ½ cup Ghee

  • Cardamom powder (Optional)
