Cabbage Side dish or poriyal or palya is a traditional and healthy recipe. Cabbage Side dish or Cabbage Palya or Cabbage Poriyal with step by step instructions and pictures are given below. Ingredients used in this recipe are chopped cabbage, chopped onion, oil, curry leaves, mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal, curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves, turmeric powder, salt, green chili, grated coconut, toor dal. It can served has an accomplishment with samber rice or rasam rice or even it goes well with chapati. Cabbage Side dish/Palya/Poriyal is one my favorite recipe. Even you can add green peas too.

Cabbage Side dish or Palya or Poriyal
It is a traditional side dish recipe, it is very healhty recipe, goes well with samber rice and chapati too.
- 1 Chopped Medium Cabbage
- ¼ Cup Toor dal
- 1 Chopped Onion
- 2 tbsp Grated Coconut
- 2 tbsp Chopped Coriander leaves
- 2 Spring Curry leaves
- ¼ tsp Mustard Seeds
- ¼ tsp Cumin seeds
- ½ tsp Chana dal and urad dal
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1 to 2 tbsp Chopped Coriander leaves (Garnishing)
- 3 to 4 Green Chilis
- pinch Turmeric powder
- Salt (As per taste)
- Water (As required)
Firstly clean and chop the cabbage into small pieces.
Take a pressure cooker and add in toor dal(cook for five minutes) and then add in chopped cabbages. Pressure cook for one whistle.
Now take and large pan and add in oil, mustard, cumin, chana and urad dal and green chilis.
Add in chopped onion, turmeric, salt and curry leaves.
Add in cooked cabbage and toor dal. Give and gentle mix.
Now add in grated coconuts and coriander leaves. Give a mix.
Now the Cabbage Side dish or Palya or Poriyal is ready to serve with rice or chapati.
- If you want more spicy you can also add in chili powder.
