Wheat Onion Samosa

Wheat Onion Samosa is a one of the popular Indian snack recipe found everywhere . A samosa is a fried or baked snack recipe, which is filled with spices and sliced onions. Usually samosa take different forms , like triangular, cone, or half moon shape. Usually samosas are often served with green chutney such as mint, coriander or tamarind chutney, thick curd. Even we can serve with tomato sauce too. For extra flavor we can garnish it with chopped onions, finely chopped coriander leaves.

The samosa is prepared with all purpose flour i.e., maida but in this recipe I have used wheat flour. So, for filling I have used sliced onions, red chili powder, poha, salt to taste, garam masala, curry leaves, coriander leaves. A stuffing can be vegetarian or non vegetarian, depending on the filling. So for stuffing we can use boiled shamed potatoes, green peas, Onions, we can also use paneer, mushroom, brown channa etc. So, for non veg we can use eggs, meat, fish etc.

Samosas are usually deep fried to a golden brown in oil. They are served hot and served with chutney.

How to make Wheat Onion Samosa Recipe:

For preparing samosa dough:

Take a mixing bowl and add in wheat flour, salt to taste, oil and required amount of water and give a mix. Knead to a chapati dough consistency.

Knead into a chapati dough consistency. Then close the lid and allow it rest for 20 minutes.

Later take the chapati dough and make ball shaped dough. Roll it into flat. Now heat a pan and cook the rolled sheets on both sides, just for 30 seconds.

Cut the extras on all the sides of the sheet.

Cut into equal half.

Finally samosa sheets are ready to make samosas.

 

Samosa Filling:

Take a mixing bowl and add in sliced onions, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder.

Then add in chopped curry leaves and coriander leaves, cumin seeds.

Then add in poha and salt to taste.(poha helps to observe the excess moisture come from the onion). Give a mix.

Samosa making:

Maida paste or all purpose flour paste. Take a bowl and add in maida and water. Give a mix.

First folding, for sticking we can use maida paste i.e., all purpose flour.

Finally add in the stuffing inside the pocket and apply maida paste and stick it.

Now heat a pan and add in oil and deep fry the somosas under medium heat.

Wheat Onion Samosa

Wheat onion Samosa is one of the popular Indian snack recipe, it can served with green chuteny, tamarind chutney and even with thick curd.

  • Mixing bowl
  • Frying pan

Samosa sheet

  • 2 cups Wheat flour
  • as per taste
  • 1 tbsp Oil

for making fillin

  • 4 Sliced onions
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • ⅛ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ cup Thin poha
  • 2 tbsp chopped curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • Oil for deep frying

Paste for sticking

  • 3 tbsp Maida flour
  • ¼ cup Water
  1. Firstly take a bowl and add in wheat flour, salt to taste, oil. Mix well and knead to a chapati dough consistency. then close the lid and allow it rest for 20 minutes.

  2. For preparing filling, take a bowl and add in sliced onions, salt to taste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, thin poha, curry leaves, coriander leaves, cumin seeds. Mix well.

  3. Now take the small portion of dough, roll it into flat sheet. Then heat a pan and cook the rolled sheet on both sides for 30 seconds. Keep it aside

  4. Then cut and remove the extras on all the sides of the sheet and start folding (refer the images as shown above)

  5. Later add in the stuffing inside the prepared samosas and stick it securely with the maida paste.

  6. Later deep fry the prepared samosas, till golden brown.

  7. Finally the wheat onion samosas are ready to serve.
