Ingredients
Boiled Potatoes 4 medium size
Oil 3 tbsp.
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds 1/2 tsp
Chana dal 1 tsp (optional)
Urad dal 1 tsp (optional)
Onion chopped 2
Curry leaves 2 sprig
Chopped garlic 4 to 5 cloves
Green chilies 2 chopped
Asafoetida/hing 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder 1 tsp (add as per your spice level)
Roasted gram flour 2 tbsp.
Coriander leaves 1/4 cup chopped
Mint leaves 1/4 cup chopped
Water 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Directions
- Firstly, heat a pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, chana dal and urad dal.
- And then add in chopped garlic and green chilies. Sauté till the garlic turns light golden color.
- Later add in chopped onions, curry leaves, turmeric powder and pinch of Hing. Sauté for a minute under a medium flame.
- Then add in red chili powder. ( add as per your requirement).
- Salt to taste.
- Further, add in chopped mint and coriander leaves. Give a mix and cook for a minute.
- Add in roasted gram flour for thickness and flavor. Give a quick mix without any lumps.
- Later add in 1/2 a cup of water and allow it to cook
- Once the gravy thickens or oil separates the pan.
- And then add in boiled potatoes. Give a mix.
- Finally, Uruli Madurai Pottalam is ready to serve.
