Spicy Kabuli Channa Biryani – Lunch box recipe

Spicy Kabuli Channa Biryani is a healthy and tasty biryani recipe. It goes well with onion raita or any gravy of your choice. It is one of the best lunch box recipe. So, the ingredients used in this recipe are kabuli channa, sonamasori rice, ginger garlic paste, onion, tomato, garam masala, salt to taste, red chilies, oil, ghee, mint, fenugreek leaves, water as required, cloves, cinnamon stick, cardamom, fennel seeds, bay leaf.

How to make Kabuli Channa Biryani:

Firstly wash and soak kabuli channa overnight.

Then heat a pan and add in oil, cloves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, bay leaf, fennel seeds and onion. Fry till it changes to brown.

Then add in tomato paste, ginger garlic paste, red chili paste, mint and fenhugreek paste and garam masala. Give a mix and allow it to cook till the raw smell goes. Then add in soaked kabuli channa.

Later add in soaked basmati rice, salt to taste and water as required. Then close the lid and dum cook in a low medium flame or till the rice is completely cooked.

Kabuli Channa Biryani

Kabuli Channa Biryani is a healthy and tasty biryani recipe. It goes well with onion raita and any gravy of your choice.

  • Pan
  • Mixer jar
  • 1 cup Kabuli channa
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • 2 tsp Ghee
  • 4 Cloves
  • 1 inch Cinnamon
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1 2 Cardamom
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 big Onion slices
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • ½ cup Mint leaves and fenugreek leaves
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups Basmati rice
  • 4 cups Water
  1. Firstly clean and soak kabuli channa overnight and keep it aside.

  2. Then heat a pan and add in oil, cloves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, bay leaf, fennel seeds, and sliced onions.

  3. Then add in tomato puree, ginger garlic paste, mint, soaked kabuli channa and fenugreek leaves paste. Give a mix and cook till the raw smell goes away completely and the kabuli channa is 80% cooked.

  4. Then add in garam masala, soaked bastmati rice, salt to taste and water as required.

  5. Give a mix and dum cook till the rice is completely cooked.

  6. Finally add in ghee and give a quick mix. Healthy and tasty Kabuli channa biryani is ready to serve.
