Soft and Spongy Rava dhokla is one of the simple and tasty recipe. So, the ingredients used in this recipe are rava, green chilies, salt to taste, oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, grated coconuts, chopped coriander leaves, turmeric powder, sugar water, lemon juice, baking soda, ginger. Dhokla is one of the popular Gujarat dish. It is also commonly served in other parts of India. It is made with a fermented batter derived from legumes like chickpea, urad and rice. Dhokla can be eaten for breakfast and even as a main course, as a side dish or as a evening snacks.
It is usually served with chutneys, like coriander or mint chutney. Usually dhoklas are stem cooked for 10 to 15 minutes on flat plates kept inside the stem cooker. Plates are not directly placed on the base, or the batter will burn, so a small stand is used. When the batter is steamed cooked , dhokla plates are taken out of the stem cooker and then served with a tadka prepared using oil, mustard, cumin seeds, curry leaves with some sugar water. It is garnished with finely chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut.

How to make Rava dhokla Recipe:
How to check dhokla is cooker or not: Use a toothpick or a knife and insert it into the centre of the dhokla, right to the base. When you pull out, it should come away clean. If you pull it back and it has wet batter on it, then the dhokla needs bit longer to be cooked.
Rava Dhokla
Rava Dhokla is a simple and tasty Gujarati dish. It is also served in other parts of India.
- Mixing bowl
- Stem cooker or pan
- Flat pan or plate
- 1 cup Rava
- ½ cup Water
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- ⅛ tsp Ginger paste
- 1 Green chili
- Pinch of turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Sugar
- ⅛ tsp Baking soda
- Salt to taste
Tadka
- 1 tbsp Oil
- ⅛ tsp Mustard seeds
- ⅛ tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 strings Curry leaves
Sugar water
- ¼ cup Water
- 1 tbsp Sugar

Firstly take a bowl and add in rava, green chili, ginger, turmeric powder, oil, lemon juice, salt to taste, water as required and give a mix.

Then allow it rest for 20 to 30 minutes.

Then add in baking soda and give a mix. Grease the pan and pour the dhokla batter.

Later heat a stem cooker and place a stand at the bottom of the pan and place the dhokla plate on the stand and close the lid. Allow it to stem cook for 15 minutes.

Then prepare the tadka, sugar water and keep it aside.

After cooking for 15 minutes. Remove the plate from the stem cooker and allow it to cool down completely.

Then add in the prepared tadka and sugar water on top of the dhokla.

Later with the help of knife cut the dhokla into pieces.

Finally the rava dhokla is ready to serve.
