Quick Channa Masala | Chickpea Masala

Quick Channa Masala is a simple, healthy and tasty masala recipe with step by step pictures, instructions and videos are given below, hope you all like it. It is literally mix spiced Kabuli channa or chickpeas. It is also known as channay, chole masala, chole. It is one of the healthy, traditional dish from India. For making we can variety of chana like white chana, kala chana (black chana). So, it goes well with chapati, poori, dosa.

Ingredients:

chickpea, onion, tomato, oil, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf, green chilies, ginger chopped, red chili powder, chole masala or garam masala, coriander powder, salt to taste, kasuri methi, jaggery.

Method:

How to make Quick Chana Masala | Chickpea Masala:

  1. Firstly soak chana for 6 to 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Later transfer to pressure cooker, add in salt to taste.
  3. Pressure cook it for 4 to 5 whistles.
  4. After pressure cooking, smash chana with the help of your finger, if it smashes smoothly then it is cooked completely.
  5. Now heat a pan and add in oil, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf.
  6. Then add in chopped onions, green chilies. Saute for 2 minutes in low flame.
  7. Then add in finely chopped ginger, chopped tomatoes. Then close the lid and cook till the tomatoes becomes soft and smash.
  8. Then add in red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala or chana masala powder. Saute till the raw smell of the masalas goes away completely.
  9. Now add in cooked chana and give a mix. Close the lid and cook for another 5 minutes.
  10. Finally add in kasuri methi.
  11. Then add in jaggery. It helps to enhance the taste of the masala. Cook for another 3 minutes and switch off the flame.
  12. Finally quick and tasty Chana Masala or Chickpea Masala is ready to serve.
