PEPPER RASAM OR HOME REMEDY FOR COLD, COUGH AND THROAT PAIN

Pepper rasam is a simple and healthy rasam recipe. Due to weather changes, we may get some illness like cold and cough generally. So, to get relief from it we can have this pepper rasam . It is very simple and easy to make with minimal ingredients available at home such as whole pepper, jeera or cumin seeds, oil, ghee, dry red chili, mustard seeds, curry leaves, hing, tamarind, jaggery, garlic, salt to taste, water as required, Ginger(optional).

Cumin or jeera give a good taste to the rasam and even make our body cool from excess heat and gives a nice flavor to the rasam.

 

BENEFITS

Rasam is packed with antioxidants, helps to prevent acidity, helps to unwanted wastes from the stomach, and aid digestion. The important ingredient is pepper and garlic, which helps with digestion, the best home remedy for sore throat and cold during winter seasons. It is loaded with essential and minerals that are ideal for proper nutrition which helps to keep the body healthy, boosts immunity.

Rasam should not be boiled for too long because of the reactive ingredients like tamarind, lemon, and salt. There are a variety of rasams like garlic rasam, pepper rasam, and lemon rasam. Etc.,

Rasam gets its tangy taste from tomato, tamarind, and heat from spices. If the rasam becomes too tangy we can add little jaggery or water to balance the taste.

 

Best Combo:

Hot rice + Rasam.

HOW TO MAKE PEPPER RASAM OR HOME REMEDY FOR COLD, COUGH AND THROAT PAIN

Firstly crush pepper, cumin seeds and keep it aside.

Heat a pan and add in oil, ghee.

Add in mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chili, curry leaves, hing.

Add in water and a pinch of turmeric powder.

Add in tamarind juice.

Add in jaggery.

Finally add in crushed pepper and cumin powder.

Add in required salt.

Allow it boil and reduce its quantity, then only we get the taste of it.

Finally, the rasam is ready to serve with hot rice or as a drink.

PEPPER RASAM

Rasam, Pepper Rasam or Home Remedy for cold, cough and throat pain is a simple and healthy rasam recipe. It goes well with hot rice.

  • Pan
  • Mixer jar
  • 15 to 20 nos Pepper corn
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds or jeera
  • 2 tsp Oil or Ghee
  • 2 Dry red chilies
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • Few curry leaves
  • Pinch of hing
  • 1 tsp Jaggery
  • 5 Garlic
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cups Water (Or as per your requirements.)
  1. Firstly crush pepper corns and cumin seeds into a coarse powder and keep it aside.

  2. Then heat a pan and add in ghee, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilies, hing and few curry leaves.

  3. Add in water as required, pinch of turmeric powder.

  4. When it starts boiling add in crushed garlic, tamarind juice, jaggery, crushed powder and salt to taste.

  5. And then allow it to boil. When its quantity reduces, then only we get the taste of the rasam.

  6. Finally the rasam is ready to serve.

  1. you can add fresh pepper instead of dry pepper.
  2. you can also add crushed ginger too.
  3. instead of adding tamarind, we can also add lemon juice at the end.
  4. Enough to take 2 sips for cold and cough.
