It goes well with neer dosa, hot rice, ragi ball, dosa, idly, chapati, parathas. So the ingredients used in this recipe are catla or rohu fish, coconut oil, onions, green chilies, tomatoes, water as required, salt to taste. For grinding we need coconut, red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, ajwain, black peppercorns, garlic cloves, onion, tamarind. For seasoning we need oil, finely chopped onions, curry leaves.

Mangalore Fish Curry| Meen Gassi| Fish Curry is a delicious, tangy and tasty fish curry recipe, goes well with hot rice, ragi ball, neer dosa.
- Pan
- Mixer jar
- ½ kg Rohu fish
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 Medium Onion
- 3 Green chilies
- 1 inch Ginger
- 3 Small Tomatoes
- 1 to 2 cups Water (Adjust according to consistency)
- Salt to taste
For Seasoning
- 2 tbsp Oil
- ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
- 2 string Curry leaves
For Grinding
- ½ cup Coconut
- 2 tsp Red chili powder
- 2 tbsp Coriander powder
- ⅛ tsp Turmeric powder
- ½ tsp Cumin seeds
- ⅛ tsp Fenugreek seeds
- Pinch of Ajwain
- ¼ tsp Pepper corns
- 5 Garlic cloves
- 1 Small onion
- Tamarind lemon size

Firstly clean fish and keep it aside.

Now take a mixer jar and add in coconut, red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric, jeera, fenugreek seeds, ajwain, pepper, garlic, onion, tamarind. Grind it into a smooth paste.

Then heat a pan and add in oil, chopped onions, curry leaves, crushed ginger, tomatoes, turmeric powder. Saute till the raw smell goes away.

Then add in the grounded paste, required amount of water, salt to taste. Allow it to boil.

Later add in cleaned fish and close the lid and allow it boil for 10 minutes in low flame.

Meanwhile prepare seasoning, for that take a pan and add in oil, sliced onions, curry leaves. Saute it for 2 minutes and add in the prepared seasoning to the fish curry and again boil it for 3 minutes in low flame.

Finally the fish curry is ready to serve.
