Kashaya Powder

Kashaya powder is a healthy recipe, kashayam refers to a water extract of a single or group of herbs which is used for ailments like indigestion, cough or common cold etc. It is a ancient method of medicine or grand ma medicine, it has no any side effects. Kashaya usually tastes little bitter. Kashayas are made with many readily used kitchen spices and herbs like tulsi, garlic ginger, lemon, neem leaves, cinnamon stickes, cloves, long pepper, pepper, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, mint leaves, coriander seeds, fenugreek seeds etc.,

Kashaya can be prepared by using milk or water.

Ingredients used in this recipe are coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, pepper, cloves. For kashaya drink we need water or milk, jaggery, kashaya powder.

How to make Kashaya Powder:

Firstly dry roast coriander seeds till golden brown.

And then dry roast cumin seeds, pepper corns, cloves, fenugreek seeds.

Ground them into a smooth powder.

Finally Kashaya Powder is ready to make kashaya drink.

Now heat a pan and add in water, kashayam powder and allow it boil.

Add in jaggery powder and give a mix. Allow it boil.

Kashaya Powder.

Kashaya Powder is usually prepared with readily used kitchen spices or herbs like tulsi, pepper, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, coriander seeds, mint leaves, turmeric powder, dry ginger powder etc.

  • Pan
  • Mixer jar

Kashaya Powder

  • 2 Cups Coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp Methi seeds
  • ¼ cup Cumin seeds
  • 10 Pepper corns
  • 5 Cloves

Kashaya Drink

  • 1 cup Water or Milk
  • 1 tbsp Jaggery
  • 1 tsp Kashaya powder
  1. Firstly dry roast coriander seeds, cloves, methi or fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds, pepper and keep it aside.

  2. Heat a pan and add in one cup of water or milk and 1 tsp of kashaya powder and jaggery.

  3. Allow it boil and serve hot.
