Karamani Kuzhambu | Alsande Sambar is a very healthy and tasty sambar recipe with step by step pictures and instructions are given below. It goes well with rice, ragi ball, chapati. Karamani is known as cowpea, black eyed pea, alsande(kannada). It is very simple and easy to make with simple ingredients available at home. It is one of my favorite kuzhambu or sambar recipe.

So, the ingredients used in this recipe are karamani, onion, oil, mustard seeds, coconuts, curry leaves, sambar powder, tamarind, salt to taste, water as required, potato.

Karamani Kuzhambu | Alsande Sambar
Karamani Kuzhambu | Alsande Sambar is a healthy and tasty sambar recipe. It goes well with rice, ragi ball, chapati.
- Pressure Cooker
- Pan
- ½ cup Karamani
- Salt to taste
For Grinding
- 1 Medium Onion
- 1 Small lemon size tamarind
- 2 cups Water
- ⅓ cup Coconut
- 2 tbsp Sambar powder (adjust according to your spice level)
For seasoning
- 1 Medium onion
- 2 string Curry leaves
- ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 Small tomato (Optional)

Firstly pressure cook karamani for 3 to 4 whistles. Potato is optional.

Then take a mixer jar and add in coconuts, tamarind, onion, sambar powder. Grind it into a smooth paste.

Later add in the prepared grounded paste, mix well and allow it to boil, till the raw smell completely goes away.

Then add in the prepared seasoning to the sambar. Boil for another 2 minutes and switch off the flame.

Finally the healthy and tasty Karamani Kuzhambu Recipe is ready to serve.
