Chole or Chana chat recipe is one of the healthy evening chat recipe. So, the ingredients used in this recipe are soaked and cooked chana, chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, finely chopped garlic and ginger, chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, chat masala powder, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, oil, water as required, chopped cucumber, freshly chopped coriander leaves, salt to taste, sev or boondi or any mixture or your choice.

Chana or Chole Chat

Chana or Chole Chat recipe is a one of the healthy chat recipe. It is very simple to make. Step by step pictures and instructions are given below.

  • Pressure Cooker
  • Large bottom pan
  • 1 cup Brown Chana or White Chana
  • 1 tsp Chopped ginger and garlic
  • ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 Chopped Onions
  • 1 Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 Chopped Cucumber
  • Freshly chopped coriander leaves
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • ½ tsp Garam Masala powder
  • ⅛ tsp Chat masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1½ Water
  • ½ cup Sev or any mixtures or boondi or your choice
  • 1 tsp Oil
  1. Soak and pressure cook chana for 5 whistles and keep it aside.

  2. Heat a pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, chopped ginger and garlic, chopped onions, tomatoes.

  3. Add in turmeric powder, chili and coriander powder.

  4. Add in pressure cooked chana, garam masala, chat masala.

  5. Smash few chana so that the gravy becomes thick.

  6. Close the lid and cook for 10 minutes in low flame.

  7. For assembling take and plate or bowl and add in cooked chana, chopped onion, tomatoes, cucumber.

  8. Sprinkle some chili powder and salt.

  9. Finally sprinkle sev or mixture or boondi on the top.

  10. Now the healthy chana or chole chat recipe is ready to serve.

  1. We can make this chat with white chana and even with green peas.
