How to make Chettinad Egg Drop Curry

Heat a pan and add in oil, cumin seeds, bay leaf.

Add in chopped onions, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder.

Add in chopped tomatoes, chili powder, chettinad curry powder, then give a mix.

And then add in water, and allow it boil and then add in boiled potatoes(optional).

Add in boiled eggs, required salt and close the lid and allow it to cook for another 5 minutes in low flame.

Add in raw eggs carefully without mixing.

Chettinad Egg Drop Curry

Chettinad egg drop curry is a delicious aromatic curry recipe prepared with freshly ground curry powder, it goes well with chapati, parathas, rice, dosa etc.

  • Large bottom pan
  • 4 Raw eggs
  • 3 Boiled eggs
  • 2 Boiled potatoes(optional)
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1 Big chopped onions
  • 2 Chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Chili powder (as per your requirements)
  • 1 tbsp Chettinad curry powder
  • ¼ tsp Cumin seeds
  • Water as required
  • salt as per taste
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  1. Heat a pan and add in oil, cumin seeds, bay leaf.

  2. Then add in chopped onions, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder. Cook till the raw smell goes.

  3. And then add in chopped tomatoes, chili powder, chettinad curry powder and give a mix.

  4. And then add in water and allow it boil.

  5. Now add in boiled potatoes,boiled eggs and salt to taste. And then close the lid and cook for 3 minutes in low flame.

  6. And then drop the raw eggs carefully without mixing.

  7. Then close the lid and cook for 5 minutes in low flame without disturbing the eggs.

  8. Finally garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with parathas, chapati, dosa or rice.
