Tomata bath is a healthy and tasty rice recipe goes well with onion raita or any gravy of your choice. So the ingredients used in this recipe are fresh tomatoes, onion, ginger garlic, green chilies, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon sticks, star anise, fennel seeds, bay leaf, oil, water as required, coriander leaves, mint leaves, fenugreek leaves, karshmiri chilis, coriander powder, chili powder, garam masala, fresh toor beans (even we can use fresh green peas).

Best Tomato Bath

Tomato bath is a traditional and healthy rice recipe, goes well with onion raita, any gravy of your choice.

  • 3 cup Basmati rice(Soaked Rice)
  • 4½ cup Water
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 1 cup Fresh Toor Beans or Green peas
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 Medium Sliced Onions
  • 6 Green chilies
  • ¼ tsp Fennel Seeds
  • 1 Star Anise, bay leaf
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • ¼ tsp Garam Masala
  • ¼ cup Coriander leaves, Mint leaves, Fenugreek leaves
  • Salt as per taste

For fry and Grinding

  • 3 Medium Tomatoes chopped
  • 5 Pepper corns
  • 1 Large sliced Onions
  • 2 Cloves, Cardamom
  • 1 Inch Cinnamon Sticks
  • ¼ cup Grated Coconuts
  • 4 Kashmiri chilies
  1. Soak basmati rice in water for 30 minutes.

  2. Take a small pan and add little oil, sliced onions, tomatoes, pepper corns, kashmiri chilies, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, fry till the tomatoes are cooked or smashed.

  3. Grind them into fine paste.

  4. Take a large bottom pan and add in oil, sliced onions, star anise, bay leaf, ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell goes.

  5. Now add in ground paste and cook till oil leaves the sides of the pan.

  6. Now add in fresh toor beans and give a mix.

  7. Add in coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt as per taste.

  8. Now add in soaked basmati rice and fry for a minute.

  9. Add in mint leaves, coriander leaves, fenugreek leaves and water and give a mix.

  10. Close the lid and dum cook them for 25 minutes in low flame.

  11. Finally tasty tomato bath is ready to serve with onion raita or gravy of your choice.
