Banana Flower Sprouted Moong dal Curry is a very nutritious, healthy and tasty side dish recipe with step by step pictures and instructions are given below. It can be served as a side dish with sambar rice, rasam rice, chapati, dosa, poori.
Ingredients Used:
Banana flower, sprouted moong dal or normal moong dal, oil, mustard seeds, channa dal. urad dal, onion, curry leaves, salt to taste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, peanuts, coconut, red chilies.
Methods:
- Firstly clean banana flowers and keep it aside.
- Later chopped banana flower and rinse in water.
- Now heat a pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, channa dal, urad dal, onions, curry leaves, turmeric powder. Saute till the onions becomes soft.
- Now add in sprouted moong dal and give a stir.
Meanwhile heat a small pan and dry roast peanuts, few curry leaves, dry red chilies . - Allow it to cool down completely.
- Transfer it to mixer jar and ground into a coarse powder.
- Once the dal is 90 percent cooked, then add in cut banana flowers. Close the lid and cook banana flowers.
- Once the banana flower is cooked completely, finally add in grounded coarse powder, salt to taste. Give a mix. Close the lid and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
- Finally the Banana flower with sprouted green moong dal curry is ready to serve.

- Pan
- Mixer jar
For Coarsely Grounded Powder
- 2 tbsp Peanuts
- 2 tbsp Coconuts
- 2 to 3 Red chili powder
- Few curry leaves
For making Curry
- 1 Banana flower
- ¼ cup Sprouted Green Moong dal
- 1 tbsp Oil
- ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Channa dal
- 1 tsp Urad dal
- Few curry leaves
- Pinch of turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Water for cooking sprouts (As per requirement)
