BANANA FLOWER VADA OR VAZHAIPOO VADA

INGREDIENTS:

Freshly cleaned and chopped banana flowers, soaked channa dal, curry leaves, ginger and garlic, coriander leaves, fennel seeds, cloves, cinnamon sticks, green chilies, gram flour, salt to taste, oil for frying. So, even we can add chopped onions, mint leaves. As there was a shortage for mint leaves and onions so, here I have skipped them but if you add it really tastes good.

VAZHAIPOO VADA RECIPE

BANANA FLOWER OR VAZHAIPOO VADA with step by step pictures and instructions are given below.

  • Mixing bowl
  • Large bottom pan for deep frying
  • 1 BANANA FLOWER OR VAZHAIPOO (Washed and cleaned)
  • ½ cup Soaked channa dal
  • 2 tbsp Gram flour
  • 6 Green Chilies
  • ⅛ tsp Fennel seeds
  • Few chopped curry leaves
  • ¼ cup Chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • ½ inch Ginger
  • 2 Cloves
  • 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Salt to taste
  1. Soak channa dal for 2 hours.

  2. Take a mixer jar and add in soaked channa dal, green chilies, fennel seeds, cloves, cinnamon sticks, ginger and garlic. Grind them coarsely.

  3. Take a mixing bowl and add in ground mixture, gram flour, washed and cleaned banana flower, chopped coriander leaves and salt to taste. Give a mix.

  4. Now with wet hand make small balls and flatten them and deep fry them both the sides.

  5. Drain off the excess oil and place on a paper towel. Finally BANANA FLOWER OR VAZHAIPOO VADA is ready to serve.

HOW TO MAKE VAZHAIPOO VADA RECIPE

Soak Channa dal for 2 hours.

Take a mixer jar and add in soaked 1/2 cup channa dal, 6 green chilies, 2 garlic, 1/2 inch ginger, 2cloves, 1 inch cinnamon sticks, 1/8 tsp fennel seeds. Grind them coarsely.

Take a mixing bowl and add in ground mixture, washed and cleaned banana flower, chopped few curry leaves and 2 tbspgram flour.
