About Akki Roti:
Akki roti is a rice-based breakfast item from Karnataka Cuisine. Akki roti means “rice bread”. Akki Rotti is made of rice flour, chopped onions, grated carrots, and chopped leafy vegetables of your choice like dill leaves, coriander leaves, fenugreek leaves, chopped drumstick leaves, and cumin seeds.
However, even we can add roasted peanuts, and chopped fresh coconuts, for spice up the dish we can add finely chopped green chilies, salt to taste, little water if required. And then knead the dough and keep it aside.
Firstly, for preparation take a piece of banana leaf, grease it with oil and then take a small portion of akki roti dough and flatten it to a thin bread or roti. Then heat a pan or wok, and then place the flattened roti, and carefully take off the banana leaf (refer to images).
A small amount of oil is spread over it the Tawa (akki rotti can be cooked on Tawa or even in a Kadai too) and close the lid, till the roti turns slightly golden brown. Even we can use a wet cotton cloth to flatten akki roti.
Best Combo:
Akki rotti is served hot and is eaten along with coconut chutney, peanut chutney, or any chutney of your choice, furthermore, we can also serve it with a dash of butter or ghee. Lastly, the healthy and tasty Akki Rotti is ready to serve.

Rice flour, fenugreek leaves, drumstick leaves, onion chopped, green chilies, curry leaves, grated coconut, grated chow chow or radish or bottle gourd, roasted peanuts, salt to taste, water as required.

How to make Akki Roti Or Rice Bread:
- Firstly take a mixing bowl and add in rice flour.
- Then add in chopped curry leaves, fenugreek leaves, and drumstick leaves.
- Add grated chow chow or radish.
- Then add in grated coconut, roasted peanuts, and salt to taste. Give a mix.
- Add required water. Give a mix.
- Then take a banana leaf and grease it with oil.
- Later take a ball-shaped dough then wet your hands and spread it into a flatbread or roti.
- Then heat a pan and place the prepared roti on the pan and then carefully take off the banana leaf and then add some oil.
- Then cook on both sides.
- Finally akki roti or rice bread is ready to serve with chutney.

According to me Ragi rotti or Figer millet roti is the healthiest and staple food of South India. Furthermore, Ragi Rotti is rich in calcium, iron, and fiber, which makes it healthier.
Further helps in keeping fuller for a longer time. It goes well with coconut chutney, peanut chutney, or any chutney of your choice. So, Millets are equally important in our diet plan.
