How to make Traditonal Ven Pongal Recipe:
Ven Pongal
Ven Pongal is also known as Kara Pongal. Ven Pongal goes well with Tiffin Sambar, coconut chutney, peanut chutney. It is one of the best breakfast recipe.
- Pan
- Small Pan
- 1 cup Rice
- ½ cup Moong dal
- 7 cups Water
- 1 Green chilies
- ½ tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tsp Ghee
- ½ tsp Ginger
- Salt to taste
Tempering
- 1 tbsp Oil/ghee
- ¼ tsp Crushed pepper corns
- ½ tsp Cumin seeds
- ¼ tsp Ginger finely chopped
- 2 string Curry leaves
- 8 to 10 Cashew nuts

Firstly heat and pan and dry roast rice, moong dal. Rinse for 2 to 3 times.

Then heat a pan and add in rinsed rice, moong dal, water, green chilies, ginger, cumin seeds. Then close the lid and pressure cook it for 3 to 4 whistles.

Meanwhile we can prepare seasoning, for that heat a pan and add in oil or ghee, cumin seeds, crushed pepper corns, cumin seeds, ginger chopped, cashew nuts, curry leaves.

Once the pressure is released, add in seasoning to the pongal and salt to taste.

Finally the Ven pongal or Kara Pongal is ready to serve with tiffin sambar or chutney of your choice.
