Is a popular and authentic tamarind rice recipe. Melukote in Pandavapura taluk of Mandy district, Karnataka. The place is also known as Thirunarayanapuram. Melukote is famous for two temples i.e., Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple and Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple and it also famous for Puliyogare that is also known as Tamarind rice.
Ingredients
Tamarind, coriander seeds, pepper corn, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, dry red chilies, turmeric powder, peanuts, oil, jaggery, mustard seeds, channa dal, urad dal, curry leaves, salt to taste, dry coconuts, roasted channa, fenugreek seeds, hing.

HOW TO MAKE MELUKOTE PULIYOGARE GOJJU
MELUKOTE PULIYOGARE GOJJU
Melukote Puliyogare Gojju recipe is a authentic puliyogare gojju recipe or tamarind rice, prepared in temples and festivals. It is a healthy and tasty puliyogare gojju recipe.
- Pan
- Mixer
- 1 Big Lemon size
- ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp Grated jaggery
- Salt to taste
For Grinding and tempering
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp Coriander seeds
- 1 tbsp Urad dal
- 1 tsp Pepper Corns
- 7 nos Red chilies
- 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp Desiccated coconut
- 1 tbsp Roasted gram dal
- ¼ cup Sesame oil
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- ½ tsp Hing
- 2 tbsp Peanuts
- 5 nos Red chilies
- 1 Spring Curry leaves
- Heat a pan and dry roast cumin, pepper, coriander seeds, urad dal, red chilis, sesame seeds, dry coconut, roasted gram dal and keep it aside.
- Now ground them into a smooth powder.
- Then heat a pan and add in tamarind juice, turmeric powder, salt to taste, jaggery and allow to cook till the raw smell goes. And then keep it aside.
- And then heat a another pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, channa, urad, peanuts, red chilies, curry leaves, hing.
- Now add in the prepared seasoning to the puliyogare gojju and give a mix.
- Finally the Gojju is ready to serve.
