Sabakki / Sabudana Payasa

Sabakki is also known as Sabudana or Sago. It is a starch extracted from the spongy center of various tropical palm stems. It is traditionally cooked and eaten in various forms, such as rolled into balls, mixed with boiling water to form a glue like paste.It is Produced commercially in the form of pearls.

We can make variety of recipes using sabudana such as Sabudana payasam, vada, sweets, pudding.

Sabakki and Sabudana Payasam

It is

  • ¼ Cup Sabudana / Sabakki
  • 2 tbsp Vermicelli (Optional)
  • ¼ Cup Sugar
  • Water (As required)
  • Salt (Pinch)

Grinding

  • 1 tbsp Poppy seeds
  • 2 tbsp Coconut chopped
  • ¼ tsp Cardamom Powder
  1. Soak for half an hour.



  2. Take a pan add in water 2 cups and cook Sabudana for 5 minutes.



  3. Grind and make a paste.



  4. Add in the paste to the boiling Sabudana and for 5 minutes and serve.



  1. You can garnish it with roasted nuts.
