Whole wheat multilayered lachha paratha is a healthy and easy paratha recipe with step by step pictures and instructions given below, hope you all like it and give it a try. It originated from Punjab, here Laccha means “ring” in Punjabi. So, Laccha Paratha, or Indian flat bread with layers is traditionally made with whole wheat flour or atta. It can be made with wheat flour or all-purpose flour too.
In a mixing bowl add all the ingredients and knead the flour into a soft dough and then fold it like a pleats to form a ring shape. Again rotated in the form of rings and then each layer is brushed with oil and rolled again with the help of a rolling pin and cooked on tawa with oil ghee or butter.
Laccha paratha can be served with your favorite subji, curries, gravies, or with dal fry or dal makhani too. Even some people like to have it with mango pickle or chutney on the side. These parathas are also served as a street food, by making different variations and stuffing like paneer stuffing, aloo, etc. Using these parathas we can make Laccha Paratha Roll, stuffed paratha.
Ingredients:

TYPES OF PARATHA:
TANDOORI LACHHA PARATHA:
It is a traditional recipe of Punjab. Further is different from plain paratha such as baking powder, baking soda, sugar, soar curd, ghee or butter, sesame seeds, and water as required to knead the dough. laccha paratha is cooked on tawa but the Tandoori paratha is cooked in a preheated cooker or oven and bake them for 5 to 8 minutes or until brown spots are seen. And finally sprinkle oil, ghee, or butter, and it’s ready to serve.
MALABAR PARATHA OR KERALA PAROTTA
It is prepared completely with All-purpose flour or Maida. Whereas the traditional paratha is made using whole wheat flour.
ALOO LACHHA PARATHA:
It is a rich paratha, as it is filled with boiled, mashed potato filling along with some spices are also added. Then the parathas are layered and filled with these potato fillings, rolled it into a flat bread, and cooked on tawa. And it’s ready.

Methods:
- Take a mixing bowl and add in wheat flour, salt to taste, oil, and the required amount of water and give a mix. Knead to dough consistency.
- Then close the lid and allow it to rest for 20 minutes.
- Take a small portion of the knead dough.
- Roll it and apply oil generously, and then sprinkle some wheat flour.
- Fold it like a pleats.
- Make a pleats, as shown in the image, and roll it tightly.
- Further roll it flat with the help of a rolling pin.
- Roll it into a flat bread. We can see the layers on it.
- Heat a pan and cook the paratha on both sides, by applying a generous amount of oil ghee, or butter as per your choice.
- Finally Lachha Parathas are ready to serve with any gravy or curry of your choice.
