Healthy Green Moong Dal curry

Ingredients:

Green Moong dal, onion, potatoes, brinjal, ginger, garlic, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, coconut, cloves, cinnamon sticks, fennel seeds, roasted channa, pepper corns, mustard seeds, oil, curry leaves, salt to taste, water as required.

Green Moong dal curry goes well with hot stemed rice, jeera rice, coconut rice, peas pulav, chapati, poori, dosa, parathas, kulcha, pulka, idly, ragi ball.

How to make Green Moong Dal Curry Recipe:

Green Moong dal Curry
Firstly rinse Green moong dal for 2 to 3 times and keep it aside.

Later drain off the excess water and dry roast the green gram for 1 minutes in low flame.

Then take a pressure cooker and add in dry roasted green gram, water. Pressure cook it for 3 whistles and again add in cut potatoes, brinjal and agian pressure cook it for one more whistles and keep it aside.

Meanwhile take a mixer jar and add in onions, coconut, roasted channa, ginger garlic, pepper corns, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon sticks. Ground them into a smooth paste.

After grinding into paste, in the same jar add in red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala. Again grind it into a smooth paste.

Add in the grounded paste to the pressure cooked green gram. Mix well.

For preparing seasoning, take a small pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, chopped onions, few curry leaves. Saute till the onions becomes transparent.

  • Pressure Cooker
  • Large Pan
  • Seasoning pan
  • Mixer jar
  • ½ cup Green gram
  • 2 Potato pieces
  • 1 Brinjal
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups Water (Or adjust according to your consistency)

For Grinding

  • 2 Medium Onion
  • Small piece cinnamon stick
  • 2 Cloves
  • ⅛ tsp Cumin seeds
  • 6 to 8 Pepper corns
  • ⅓ cup Coconut pieces
  • 2 tbsp Coriander powder
  • ½ tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • ½ inch Ginger
  • 5 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Roasted channa

  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 Small Chopped onion
  • Few curry leaves
