Traditional Coconut Rice

Coconut rice is one of the traditional rice recipe, it is prepared during festivals, some special occasions, and it offered has a naivedyam to god. This recipe hardly takes 10 minutes if your have any leftover rice but really tastes delicious and mild.

So, the ingredients used in this recipe are very handy and easily available in our kitchen, such as freshly grated coconuts, cooked rice, peanuts, cashew nuts, green chilies, curry leaves, channa dal, urad dal, coriander leaves, oil, ghee, hing(Asafoetida), and salt as per taste.

Traditional Coconut Rice

Traditional Coconut Rice is one of the simple and healthy rice recipe, with step by step pictures and instructions are given below.

  • 1 Cup Cooked Rice
  • ½ Cup Coconut grated
  • 3 Green Chilies
  • ¼ Cup Peanuts
  • 2 tbsp Cashew nuts
  • 1 tsp Channa dal and urad dal
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • Few Curry leaves
  • ⅛ tsp Mustard seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves (Garnishing)
  1. Firstly grate the coconuts and keep it aside.

  2. Take a pan and add in oil, ghee, mustard seeds, channa and urad dal, peanuts and cashew nuts fry till the color changes.

  3. Add in green chilies, curry leaves.

  4. Add in grated coconut and salt and give a mix.

  5. Now add in cooked rice and give a quick mix.

  6. Lastly garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
