Tomato Rasam Without Dal Recipe

Tomato Rasam Without Dal is packed with rich dietary fibers, rasam is ideal for cold, flu, and weight loss. Rasam, a soup of spices, is a traditional South Indian food. It is traditionally prepared using tamarind juice as a base, with ripe tomatoes, freshly ground pepper powder, cumin, garlic, curry leaves, fenugreek seeds, mustard, dry red chilies, salt to taste, tamarind, oil, water as required, asafoetida, coriander seeds and coriander leaves for garnishing.

Rasam is far more watery and lighter than the sambar. Whereas sambar is cooked with dal and vegetables, so the texture will be a little thick and creamy due to dal.

We can have rasam daily to avoid the common cold and flu. Furthermore, we can have it with rice, and papad or it can be served separately as a soup.

INGREDIENTS:

Tomatoes, tamarind juice, turmeric powder, garlic, coriander leaves, water, salt to taste, mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida, salt, oil, chili powder, and dry red chili whole.

Dry roast: Coriander seeds, cumin seeds, peppercorns, fenugreek seeds, red chilies, few curry leaves.

How to make Tomato Rasam:

  • First heat a pan and add water, and tomatoes.
  • And then allow the tomatoes to boil.
  • Now transfer the boiled tomatoes to another bowl, and smash them. And then add salt, a few curry leaves, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and prepared Rasam powder. Give a mix.
  • Add in boiled tomato water. Give a mix.
  • Then heat a pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, crushed garlic, red chili, a few curry leaves, and a pinch of hing.
  • Add in tamarind juice and then allow it to boil.
  • Close the lid and allow it to boil.
  • Allow it to boil for and switch off the flame.
