Tomato chutney is a healthy chutney recipe. It goes well with Dosa, Idly and even with rice too. Especially I would like to have tomato chutney with healthy ragi dosa(i.e. Finger Millet). So, the ingredients used in this recipe are really handy, it is readily available at home. Ingredients used are fresh tomato, onion, garlic, little coconut, coriander leaves, salt, dry chili, channa and urad dal, for grinding and for seasoning ingredients are mustard seeds, curry leaves and one dry chili. If you want tangy flavor or taste we can add little tamarind. If you want sweetness we can add little jaggery too.

Tomato Chutney for Dosa and Idly
Tomato Chutney is a healthy and tasty chutney recipe goes well with dosa and idly. It is very simple and easy to prepare.
- 1 Freshly chopped Tomatoes
- 1 Chopped Onion
- 1 tbsp Chopped Coconuts
- Coriander Leaves
- 4 Cloves Garlic
- 2 Dry Chili
- Salt (As per taste)
- 1 Spring Curry leaves
- Water (As required)
For Seasoning
- ¼ tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 Dry chili
- 1 Spring Curry leaves
Take a pan and add in oil, channa and urad dal, onion, tomatoes and fry for a minute.
Now add in chopped garlic, chopped coconuts, coriander leaves.
Now add in dry chili, salt, and few curry leaves.
For seasoning take a pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, dry chili and curry leaves.
- For tangy flavor you can add little tamarind.
- For sweetness you can add in jaggery.
