Sri Lankan Potato Curry Recipe

Hello, Today’s recipe is Sri Lankan Potato Curry recipe, it is slightly different from Indian Potato Curry or Potato Palya. So, the ingredients used in this recipe are boiled potatoes, onions, fennel seeds, urad dal, mustard seeds, green chilies, frozen green peas, curry leaves, turmeric powder, hing, lemon juice, freshly chopped coriander leaves, salt to taste, water as required.

 

Best Combinations are:

Poori – Potoato curry – Coconut chutney.

Chapati – Potato curry.

Rice – Samber – Potato curry.

How to make Sri Lankan Potato Curry:

Pressure cook potatoes for 5 to 6 whistles, peel the skin and keep it aside.

Heat a pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, urad dal.

Now add in green chillies, onions, curry leaves, turmeric powder.

Now add in frozen peas(optional), salt to taste.

Add in boiled potatoes, freshly chopped coriander leaves.

Finally squeeze some lemon juice and give a mix.

Add in water(optional) to adjust the consistency.

Sri Lankan Potato Curry Recipe.

Sri Lankan Potato curry is a best side dish recipe for poori, chapati, dosa. It is slightly different from Indian Potato Curry recipe.

  • Large bottom pan
  • 6 to 7 Potatoes
  • 1 Sliced Onions
  • 3 Finely chopped green chilies
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • ⅛ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp Fennel seeds
  • 2 spring Curry leaves
  • Pinch of hing (Optional)
  • ¼ cup Frozen peas (Optional)
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water as required
  1. Firstly wash and boil the potatoes and keep it aside.

  2. Heat a pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, urad dal.

  3. And then add in sliced onions, green chilies, curry leaves, turmeric powder, salt as per taste frozen peas and hing. Give a mix.

  4. Then add in boiled potatoes(smash them with the help of your hands).

  5. Then add in finely chopped coriander leaves and give a mix.

  6. Finally squeeze some lemon juice and give a mix and switch off the stove.

  7. Now the Sri Lankan Potato Curry is ready to serve.
