SIMPLE CUTLA FISH CURRY RECIPE:

This Simple Cutla Fish Curry recipe as got a spicy and tangy taste. This delicious and tasty fish curry tastes fresh and aromatic because of adding freshly ground masala powder. Is one of my best and all time favorite dish.

Further goes well with hot rice, ragi ball, idli dosa. It is very simple and easy to make in a very short span of time with few ingredients.

According to me fish curry tastes better than the next day of cooking has the fish observes all the masalas/spices in the curry and it tastes really delicious and spicy.

As we all know that fish is very healthy diet and rich in Omega 3 Fatty acids and Vitamins such as D and B2.

HOW TO MAKE BENGALI FISH CURRY

 

INGREDIENTS:

Fish, onion, tomato, curry leaves, sambar powder or chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, mustard seeds, coriander leaves, salt to taste, oil, and water.
For Grinding: Onion, garlic, freshly grated coconut, tamarind pulp.

About Fish:

Most common used best fishes for making fish Curries or fish pulusu, gravies and Fish Fry: Rohu or Labeo Rohita, Tilapia, Catla/Katla, Mrigal, Salmon, Magur, Vaam, Rani fish or pink fish, Mackerel fish, sardine fish, korameena or black sole, white or silver pomfret and the black pomfret.

To thicken fish curry:  We can add a tbsp of coconut milk or Cashew paste or roasted chana powder or onion paste.

Fish curry is most popular in Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Mangalore.

Simple Catla Fish Curry Recipe

Simple Catla Fish curry is very easy to make in a very short span of time with few ingredients. It tastes delicious. It goes well with rice and ragi ball. It is a very healthy diet.

  • 1 Kg Fish (Catla Fish)
  • 2 nos. Big Onion Sliced (Big)
  • 1 nos. Medium Tomato
  • 1 spring Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp Samber Powder/Chilli Powder (Add according to your spice level)
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves
  • Salt as per taste
  • 3 tbsp Oil (Groundnut oil)
  • Water

For Grinding

  • 2 Medium Onions
  • 10 cloves Garlic
  • 3 tbsp Fresh grated Coconut (Optional)
  • 2 tbsp Tamarind pulp
  1. Take a pot and add oil, mustard seeds (let the seeds splutter). Then add onion,, curry leaves, tomato and close the lid. Cook for 3 minutes in low flame.

  2. For grinding take a mixer jar and add onion, garlic, coconut, tamarind and make a paste of it.

  3. Make a paste of it and add it to the pot.

  4. And then add the spices that is Samber powder or chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder

  5. Later add the fish, salt and pour enough water (according to your consistency) then close the lid and cook for 15 minutes in low flame.

  6. Finally, the catla fish curry is ready to serve. Serve with hot rice and ragi ball.

  1. At the end you can add lemon juice if you like.
  2. Usually i like fish curry in a semi gravy consistency. So, add water according to your consistency then taste the curry and adjust the spices according to that.

Pulusu is a famous recipe from Andhra cuisine, it is usually tamarind based curry or gravy.

Can you cook fish too long?
Fish cooks fast, if you are frying it takes 5 to 6 minutes to cook, if it is a curry it make take hardly 15 to 20 minutes to cook.
