Sabbakki Carrot Payasam

Sabbakki Carrot payasam is a simple and tasty dessert recipe. Using sabbakki we can make sabbakki vada, sabbakki chewda, upma. So, the ingredients used in this recipe are sabbakki or sabudhana, fresh carrot, sugar, cashew nuts and raisins, cardamom powder, pinch of salt(to enhance the taste of the payasam), ghee(optional).

How to make Sabbakki Payasam or Sabudana Payasam:

Soak Sabbakki or sabudana for half an hour.

Heat a pan and add in oil or ghee and cashew nuts, raisins. Fry till golden brown and keep it aside.

In the same pan add in cut carrots and fry for 3 to 5 minutes in low flame.

Ground them into paste.

Add in milk and ground them again.

In the same pan and add in little water and soaked and drained sabbakki and then allow them to cook till transparent.

Add in sugar and give a mix.

Add in ground paste. Allow it cook for 5 to 7 minutes in low flame.

Add in cardamom powder.

Finally add in fried cashew nuts and raisins and then the Sabbakki payasam or sabudana payasam is ready to serve.

Sabbakki Carrot Payasam

Sabbakki Carrot payasam is a simple and tasty dessert recipe. Using sabbakki we can make sabbakki vada, sabbakki chewda, upma.

  • Pan
  • Mixer grinder
  • ½ cup Sabudana or sabbakki
  • 1 Carrot
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Cashew nuts and raisins
  • ¼ tsp Cardamom powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup Milk
  • 1 cup Water
  1. Firstly soak and drain off the sabudana and sabbakki and keep it aside.

  2. Heat a pan and add in oil and dry fruits. Fry till golden brown and keep it aside.

  3. In the same pan add in cut carrots and cook for 2 to 3 minutes in low flame and keep it aside.

  4. Take a mixer jar and add in cooked carrots and milk. Then ground them into paste.

  5. Heat a pan and add in water and soaked sabbakki and cook till transparent.

  6. And then add in ground carrot paste and cook for another 5 minutes in low flame.

  7. Now add in cardamom powder and fried dry fruits and give a mix.

  8. Finally sabbakki or sabudana payasam is ready to serve.
