Rice Rava Idli Recipe

Rice rava is a very tasty and simple breakfast recipe. Idli rava is prepared with rice which as a coarse shape, that is similar to rava or semolina. So, the ingredients used in this recipe are urad dal, rice rava, salt to taste, water as required. Usually regular idlies are soft and spongy but when we make with rice rava we get a soft coarse idlies.

How to make Rice Rava Idli Recipe:

Take a bowl and add in urad dal and fenugreek seeds(optional).

In another bowl add in rice rava.

Clean and wash urad dal and rice rava in separate bowl and then allow urad dal to soak for 4 hours and rice rava for 15 minutes just before grinding urad dal.

Grind urad dal into smooth paste.

And then transfer into another bowl.

Squeeze excess water from soaked rice rava.

Add in soaked rice rava into the urad dal batter.

Add in salt as per taste. Allow it ferment for overnight.

Grease oil in idli plate and pour idli batter. Then allow it cook for 10 minutes.

Rice Rava Idli Recipe

Rice rava is a very tasty and simple breakfast recipe. Idli rava is prepared with rice which as a coarse shape, that is similar to rava or semolina.

  • Bowls
  • Idli cooker or idli mould
  • 1 cup Urad dal
  • 2 cups Rice rava or idli rava
  • ¼ tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
  1. Firstly clean and soak urad dal for 4 hours and rice rava or idli rava for 15 minutes before grinding the soaked urad dal.

  2. Now after soaking for 4 hours grind urad dal into smooth batter and then transfer them into another bowl.

  3. Now squeeze the excess water from the rice rava and add it into the grounded urad dal batter.

  4. Add in required amount of salt and water.

  5. Give a mix and allow it to ferment for 8 hours or overnight.

  6. And then grease the idli moulds with oil and pour the idli batter.

  7. Cook for 10 minutes.

  8. Finally tasty rice rava idlies are ready to serve with chutney or samber of your choice.

  1. Consistency of the idli batter should not too thick or too thin.
