So, Pumpkin Erissery | Mathanga Erissery is a traditional and healthy vegetarian curry recipe of Kerala. Mathanga in Malayalam means Yellow Pumpkin. Erissery goes well with kanji(rice gruel), chapati, poori.
Ingredients:
Yellow Pumpkin, onion, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, turmeric powder, green chilies, coconuts, salt to taste, curry leaves, red chilies.

Pumpkin Eriserry or Kerala Style Pumpkin Curry recipe
Pumpkin Eriserry or Kerala Style Pumpkin Curry recipe is a traditional and healthy vegetarian side dish recipe, goes well with kanji, chapati or served as side dish.
- Pan
- Mixer jar
- 1½ cup Cut pumpkin
- ⅛ tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
For grinding
- ½ cup Coconut
- 2 Green chilies
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
For Seasoning
- 2 tbsp Grated coconuts
- 1 tbsp Oil
- ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
- ⅛ tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 string Curry leaves
- 2 Red chilies

Firstly heat a pan and add in cut pumpkins, turmeric powder, salt to taste, little water and give a mix. Close the lid and cook till the pumpkins are soft and completely cooked.

Take a mixer jar and add in coconuts, cumin seeds, green chilies. Grind it into a smooth paste.

For seasoning, heat a pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilies, curry leaves, grated coconuts. Fry till the coconuts trurns brown.(here is forgot to add grated coconuts).

Now add in the grounded paste and allow it cook. Later add in prepared seasoning and give a mix.

Finally the pumpkin Eriserry or Kerala Style Pumpkin Curry recipe is ready to serve.
