Coconut ladoos are not only delicious but also versatile. You can experiment with variations by adding ingredients like khoya (reduced milk), cocoa powder, or even nuts to create different flavors. Enjoy making and sharing these sweet delights!

Instructions:

Prepare the Coconut:

If using fresh coconut, grate it finely or grind it with the help of a mixer grinder into a coarse powder. If using desiccated coconut, ensure it is unsweetened.

Make Jaggery Syrup:

In a pan, add jaggery or sugar and water. And then allow it to melt.

Heat the mixture on medium heat until it forms a syrup of one-string consistency. This means that when you take a drop of syrup between your fingers and stretch them apart, it forms a single thread.

Add Coconut:

Once you reach the consistency, add the grated coconut to the jaggery/sugar syrup and give a mix.

Cook the mixture on low heat, keep stirring continuously. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.

Add Cardamom powder, Dry ginger powder, Poppy seeds, Sesame seeds and Ghee:

Add cardamom powder for flavor, dry ginger powder for digestion, poppy seeds and sesame seeds for additional flavor and nutritional benefits and ghee to enhance the richness. Mix well.

Form Ladoos:

Allow the mixture to cool down slightly, so it’s easy to handle. Grease your hands with ghee to prevent sticking.

Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into round ladoos. You can make them as small or as large as you prefer.

Garnish:

Finally, garnish the ladoos with chopped nuts or seeds like almonds, cashews, melon seeds, cherries or pistachios if desired.

Serve:

Once the coconut ladoos are shaped and garnished, let them cool completely before serving.
