Grated Beetroot Side dish or Palya or Poriyal is a healthy and tasty recipe. It goes well with chapati, poori, and even can be served as an accomplishment with rice too. Ingredients used in this recipe are freshly grated beetroot, grated coconuts, chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, fresh corianders leaves, chili powder, mustard seeds, channa and urad dal, curry leaves, oil, salt as per taste. Instead of chili powder even we can use samber powder or chili powder and coriander powder according to your taste. Usually beetroot tastes sweet but some may taste little bitter then for sweetness you can add jaggery.

Grated Beetroot Side dish or Palya or Poriyal
Grated Beetroot side dish are healthy and tasty recipe. It is very simple and easy to prepare. It can served as a an accomplishment with chapati, poori or rice.
- 4 Fresh grated Beetroots
- 1 Chopped Onion
- 1 Chopped Tomatoes
- 1 tbsp Grated Coconuts
- Chopped Coriander leaves
- ½ tsp Chili powder
- ½ tsp Coriander Powder
- ¼ tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1 Spring Curry leaves
- 1 tsp Channa and urad dal
- Salt (As per taste)
- 1 tsp Jaggery (Optional)
First of all clean and grate the beetroot and keep it aside.
Take a pan and add in oil, mustard and channa and urad dal.
Add in chopped onion, tomatoes and salt. Close the lid and cook for 2 minutes in low flame.
Now add in chili and corinader powder, jaggery powder.
Add in grated beetroot and give a quick mix. Close the lid and cook for 3 to 5 minutes in low flame.
At the end garnish it with grated coconuts and chopped corinader leaves.
Finally the grated beetroot side dish or palya or poriyal is ready to serve.
