INGREDIENTS:

Freshwater fish (Rohu, Catla), oil, green chilis, onion, tomato, curry leaves, tamarind juice, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander leaves for garnishing, salt to taste, water as required.
For Masala Powder: Coriander seeds, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon stick, cardamom.

Best Combo:

Fish pulusu or Chepala Pulusu goes well with hot rice or ragi ball.

About Fish:

Most commonly used best fishes for making fish Curries or fish pulusu, gravies, and Fish Fry: Rohu or Labeo Rohita, Tilapia, Catla/Katla, Mrigal, Salmon, Magur, Vaam, Rani fish or pink fish, Mackerel fish, sardine fish, korameena or black sole, white or silver pomfret and the black pomfret.
To thicken fish curry:  We can add a tbsp of coconut milk Cashew paste or roasted chana powder or onion paste.

Fish curry refers to curry made with fish which consists of freshly ground masala powder, onions, tamarind juice, water, salt to taste. It is a easy Indian fish curry recipe. This fish curry can be made without adding any coconut milk, but tastes super yum and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 Kg Rohu Fish

  • 5 Medium Onion

  • 2 Medium tomato

  • 2 Green chilies

  • 3 tbsp. Oil

  • Few Curry leaves

  • 2 tbsp. Tamarind juice

  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder

  • 1 tbsp. Red chili powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 cups Water

  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

  • For Masala Powder
  • 2 tbsp. Coriander seeds

  • 1 tbsp. Cumin seeds

  • ½ tsp Fenugreek seeds

  • 2 Cloves

  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick

  • 2 Cardamom pods

Directions

  • Firstly, to clean fish take a mixing bowl and add in fish, rock salt, lemon juice, turmeric powder, little water. give a mix and allow it to soak for 10 minutes and then rinse it for 2 to 3 times.
  • In a mixer jar add in coriander seeds, fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cardamom, cloves. Grind it into a smooth powder.
  • Then heat a pot and add in oil. Then add in green chilies, curry leaves. Sauté for 2 minutes.
  • Add in onion paste. 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder,1 tbsp. Ginger garlic paste.
  • Close the lid and allow it to cook for 5 minutes under low flame.
  • Add tomato paste. Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes in low flame.
  • Then add in ground masala powder. red chili powder, salt to taste, 1/2 cup Water.
  • Add tamarind juice, allow it boil for 5 minutes.
  • Add in fish pieces and then close the lid and allow it boil for 5 to 8 minutes in low flame.
  • Finally the delicious and tasty FISH CURRY | ANDHRA STYLE CHEPALA IGURU is ready to serve.
