Dal Palak

Dal palak is a healthy and tasty dal recipe. It is a combination of dal and palak along with some spice. So, the ingredients are fresh palak, oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped garlic, curry leaves, onions, tomatoes, chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, toor dal, moong dal, water as required, ghee.

How to make Dal Palak or Dal Spinach:

Firstly wash and chop palak or spinach and keep it aside.

Heat a pan and add in oil, chopped garlic, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves. Cook till the garlic turns slightly brown.

Then add in onions and tomatoes, saute a for a minute.

Then add in chili powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder. Saute for a minute.

Now add in washed toor and moong dal.

Add in required amount of water and salt to taste.

And then add in palak and close the lid and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.

Finally add ghee and serve hot with rice, chapati or pulka of your choice.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch Spinach or Palak

  • 1 tbsp. Chopped garlic

  • 1 tbsp. Oil

  • ¼ tsp Mustard seeds

  • ¼ tsp Cumin seeds

  • Few curry leaves

  • 1 Chipped onions

  • 1 Tomato

  • ½ tsp Chili powder

  • Pinch of turmeric powder

  • ⅛ tsp Coriander powder

  • Pinch of hing

  • 1 tsp Ghee

Directions

  • Firstly wash and chop palak or spinach and keep it aside.
  • Heat a pan and add in oil, chopped garlic, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves. Cook till the garlic turns slightly brown.
  • Then add in onions and tomatoes, sauté a for a minute.
  • Then add in chili powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder. Saute for a minute.
  • Now add in washed toor and moong dal.
  • Add in required amount of water and salt to taste.
  • And then add in palak and close the lid and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.
  • Finally add ghee and serve hot with rice, chapati or pulka of your choice.
