Coconut Mustard Rice

It is one of the Karnataka’s special rice recipe. It is easy to make and it tastes really superb. It requires only few ingredients, like chopped coconuts, mustard seeds, peanuts, channa dal, urad dal, dry chili, Kashmiri chili (for color) Jaggery, Curry leaves, Salt.

Coconut Mustard Rice

It is one of the tasty and simple rice recipe. It is a lunch box and breakfast recipe with less ingredients. It takes hardly 10 minutes to prepare.

  • 2 Cups Cooked Rice
  • ¼ cup Peanuts
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 2 tsp Channa dal
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • 2 Spring Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves
  • Salt (As per taste)

For Grinding

  • 1 Cup Grated coconut
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Seeds
  • 3 Dry Chili
  • 1 tsp Tamarind pulp
  • 1 tsp Jaggery
  • 2 Kashmiri Chili
  1. Take a mixer jar and add in all the grinding items.



  2. Grind it.



  3. Take a pan and add in Oil, mustard, channa and urad dal, Curry leaves, peanuts.



  4. Add in grounded powder.



  5. Add Cooked Rice and Coriander leaves.



  6. Coconut Mustard Rice is ready to serve.



  1. You also add Green peas.
  2. Add ghee for extra taste.
  3. You can serve with Coconut chutney or papads of you choice.
