Butterfly Pea Loaf Cake

Butterfly pea flower is also known as Aprajita, Asian pigeonwings, blue pea, bluebellvine, cordofan pea and darwin pea. In India, it is used in the daily puja rituals.  One of the most distinctive characteristics of butterfly pea flower extract is that it will change color when the pH balance changes. So the butterfly pea loaf cake is a simple and yet tasty cake recipe. Butterfly pea flower gives a beautiful blue color to this loaf cake without changing its tastes. And the ingredients used in this recipe are butterfly pea flower extract, sugar, all purpose flour, vanilla essence, baking soda, baking powder, pinch of salt, milk, water as required, white choco chips, tutti frutti.

How to make Butterfly Pea Loaf Cake with step by step pictures and instructions:

Take a bowl and add in milk, vanilla essence, sugar and give a mix without any lumps.

Now add in butterfly pea extract and give a mix.(Take a cup of hot water and add in butterfly pea flowers and allow it rest for 5 minutes and the water is ready to use).

Now sieve all purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder and a pinch of salt.

Finally the cake batter is ready to bake.

Transfer it in to a loaf pan and sprinkle some white choco chips, tutti frutti and then Pre-heat the oven for 10 minutes and bake it for 45 minutes under 180 degree Celsius.

  • Mixing bowl
  • Loaf pan
  • Oven
  • 1 cup All purpose flour
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • ¼ cup Butterfly Pea Extract
  • ½ tsp Baking powder
  • ¼ tsp Baking soda
  • ½ tsp Vanilla essence
  • ½ cup Milk
  • 2 tbsp Water (as required)
  • White Choco chips and tutti, fruitti. (as required)
