Raw Onion chutney is a healthy and simple chutney recipe, it goes well with idly, dosa, ragi roti, akki roti(rice roti), ragi ball, kara pongal, poori, hot rice, chapati and even with bonda, bajji. So, the ingredients used in this recipe are fresh onions (shallot onions are best ), curry leaves, chopped coconut, garlic, kashmiri red chili (for color and taste), red chili (for spicy), tamarind, jaggery(optional), roasted channa. For seasoning we need oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves.
In this recipe all raw ingredients are used for making chutney(without cooking or roasting), only for seasoning we need to use stove. So it is very easy to prepare with minimum ingredients. But it really tastes good.

Raw Onion Chutney
Raw Onion chutney is a healthy and tasty chutney recipe, goes well with idly, dosa, poori, kara pongal, roti.
- 1 Fresh Onion
- ¼ cup Fresh Coconut
- 1 tbsp Roasted channa (Optional)
- 2 Garlic cloves
- 3 Kashmiri red chilies
- 2 Dry chili
- ¼ tsp Tamarind
- ¼ tsp Jaggery (Optional)
- 2 to 3 Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- Water as required
Seasoning
- 1 tsp Oil
- ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
- Few curry leaves
Take a mixer jar and add in chopped onions, coconuts, chilies, roasted channa, jagger, tamarind, garlic, curry leaves, salt to taste and some water.
Grind it and make a course paste and keep it aside.
For seasoning, take a pan and add in oil, mustard seeds and curry leaves.
Now add in the seasoning to the grounded chutney and serve with idly, dosa, roti, poori of your choice.
