Spicy Thick Chicken Gravy

Spicy Thick Chicken Gravy is a very tasty and delicious thick gravy recipe, it goes well with paratha, chapati, poori, dosa, plain steamed rice, coconut rice, ghee rice, jeera rice etc. Ingredients used in this recipe are fresh chicken, finely chopped onions, finely chopped tomatoes, ginger garlic paste, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, green chilies, mint leaves, coriander leaves, salt as per taste, water as needed. In this gravy even I have added grounded paste, so the ingredients are onions, chili and coriander powder, ginger and garlic paste, mint and coriander leaves, roasted channa. This paste adds more taste and thickness to the gravy. At the end garnish it with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

Chicken Gravy recipe is a very simple thick gravy recipe. So, adding freshly chopped onions, tomatoes, chilies, spices, freshly grounded paste makes the gravy more delicious and tasty. So, some people use processed gravy masala powders too for preparing the gravy.

Spicy Thick Chicken Gravy

Spicy thick chicken gravy is a delicious and tasty chicken gravy recipe, goes well with parathas, chapathis, poori, dosa and plain rice.

  • ½ kg Fresh Chicken
  • 2 Big Onions finely chopped
  • 3 Medium Tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 6 Green Chilies
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri Chili powder
  • ½ tsp Garam masala
  • pinch Turmeric powder
  • few Mint and Coriander leaves
  • Salt (As per taste)
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • ½ cup Water
  • 1 to 2 Cloves, Cardamom, Cinnamom sticks, bay leaf, fennel seeds.
  • 1 tbsp Kasuri methi

For making paste

  • 1 Small onion
  • ¼ tsp Chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, kashmiri chili powder
  • ½ tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp Roasted channa
  1. Make a grounded paste (ingredients are given above) and keep it aside.

  2. Take a pan and add in oil, spices like cloves, cinnamom sticks, cardamom, fennel seeds, bay leaf.

  3. Add in finely chopped onions. Fry till golden brown.

  4. Add in ginger garlic paste. Fry till raw smell goes.

  5. Add in finely chopped tomatoes.

  6. Add in all spice powders like chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, kashmiri chili powder.

  7. Now add in grounded paste and chicken. Give a mix and close the lid and cook for 10 minutes in low flame.

  8. Add in some fresh mint and coriander leaves, kasuri methi. Give a mix.

  9. Add in salt and water according to taste and consistency.

  10. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves. Now the Spicy Thick Chicken Gravy is ready to serve with parathas, chapathis, poori, dosa and rice too.

  1. To enhance the taste of the gravy we can add cashew nut paste or coconut milk.
