Murmura or Masala Puffed rice Snacks

Masala Puffed Rice or Spicy Puffed rice or Churmuri or Murmura snack is a very simple and healthy evening snacks recipe. You can have it with tea or coffee of your choice. It is a best recipe during winter or rainy season to have, as it is a spicy and light to have. Ingredients used in this recipe are very handy and easily available at home. Ingredients I have used are peanuts, roasted channa, curry leaves, turmeric powder, puffed rice, dry chili, smashed garlic, salt, chili powder (optional), Oil. Even you can use fried cashew nuts, almonds to make it more healthier and tastier.

Puffed Rice is a cereal usually made by heating rice kernels under high pressure in the presence of stem and it pops like corn does, to form puffed grains. Puffed rice is used in various breakfast cereals as well as snacks. Like we can prepare bhel puri, Puffed rice upma, masala puffed rice.

Murmura or Masala Puffed Rice Snacks

Murmura or Masala Puffed rice snacks is a simple and healthy evening snacks recipe.

  • 3 to 4 cups Puffed Rice or Murmura
  • ½ cup Peanuts
  • ½ cup Roasted Channa
  • 7 to 8 cloves Garlic
  • 3 Dry chili
  • 2 spring Curry leaves
  • Salt (As per taste)
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • ½ tsp Chili powder (Optional)
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  1. Take a pan and add in oil and roasted peanuts, roasted channa and keep it aside.

  2. Then add in garlic, curry leaves, dry chili, turmeric powder, chili powder and salt as per taste.

  3. Now take a large bowl and add in puffed rice and roasted peanuts, channa and all other masala items and give a mix.

  4. If required add salt or spicy as per your requirement.

  5. Now the masala puffed rice is ready to serve with tea or coffee of your choice.
