MALAYSIAN ASSAM FISH CURRY

This fish curry is a delicious Malaysian curry recipe. ASSAM is a Malay word which means Tamarind, it is a spicy and sour tamarind sauce. Further, it can served with hot rice.

Equipment

  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Mixer jar

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg Fish
  • 1 Big Onion sliced
  • 4 to 5 Okra
  • Lemon grass
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 2 to 3 tbsp Oil
  • 2 tbsp Curry powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cup Water
  • Squeeze lemon juice
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • 1 to 2 tbsp Tamarind paste
  • Few curry leaves

For Grinding

  • 1 Onion
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 5 to 6 Garlic
  • 2 Serrano / Cayenne Chilies

Instructions
 

  • Firstly heat a pot, then add in oil, sliced onions, few curry leaves. Give a mix and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes in low flame.
  • Then add in chopped tomato, lemon grass, ladies finger, and salt to taste. Cook till the tomatoes become soft.
  • Later add tamarind water.
  • Further add in curry powder or even we can replace it with red chili powder, coriander powder.
  • In a mixer, jar add in onion, ginger, garlic, and cayenne chilies/serrano. Or any other chilies available at home. Grind it into a smooth paste.
  • Later add in the ground paste and give a mix.
  • Add in the required water and allow it to boil.
  • Once the curry starts boiling add in cleaned fish, and then close the lid and cook for 15 to 20 minutes on low flame.
  • Once the fish is cooked completely, garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Finally, MALAYSIAN ASSAM FISH CURRY is ready to serve.
