Ingredients:

Turkey berry, onion, tomato, toor dal, masoor dal, garlic, dry red chili, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves, coriander leaves chopped, salt to taste, oil, ghee.

Methods:

  1. Firstly clean and rinse Sundakkai for 2 to 3 times and keep it aside.
    Crush it with the help of a motor pestle.
  2. Rinse it for 2 to 3 times. Remove the seeds how much ever possible. It is not necessary to take out all the seeds. If we eat with seeds we may get stomach pain and to remove bitterness.
  3. Firstly heat a pressure cooker and add in rinsed toor dal, onion, tomato, cleaned sundakki, garlic, turmeric powder, curry leaves.
  4. Add in required water, and pressure cook it for 3 to 4 whistles.
  5. After pressuring the sundakki dal. Then smash it with the help of a smasher.
  6. Heat a pan and add in oil, mustard seeds, onion, tomatoes, curry leaves, crushed garlic, red chilies, turmeric powder.
  7. Add in water as required, coriander powder, red chili powder, salt, water and allow it to cook for another 3 to 5 minutes.
  8. Add in the smashed sundakkai dal to the seasoning, give a mix.
  9. Finally garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with idli or dosa.

How to make Sundakkai Sambar Tamil Nadu Style:

  • ⅛ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp Red chili powder
  • ½ tsp Coriander powder
  • ⅛ tsp Cumin seeds
  • ⅛ tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 string Curry leaves
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • ½ tsp Ghee
