Simple Wheat Vermicelli or Semiya Recipe

Ingredients used in this recipe are vermicelli (roasted), chopped onions, oil, water as required, chopped carrots, peanuts, mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal, garnish it with freshly chopped coriander leaves and salt as per taste. To enhance the taste of the vermicelli recipe or semiya recipe so for this even we can add in fresh green peas, fried cashew nuts.

Semiya is also called as Vermicelli. It is prepared same as Rava Upma recipe. You will get semiya or Vermicelli in many verities such as Rice Vermicelli, Wheat Vermicelli, Ragi Vermicelli and Millet Vermicelli. It is easy to prepared. It can be a best breakfast recipe. You can have it with Papad, Coconut Chutney.

Wheat Semiya or Vermicelli Recipe

It is easy and simple recipe. It is a simple South Indian breakfast recipe.

  • 2 Cups Vermicelli or Semiya
  • ¾ Cup Water (It may vary)
  • 2 tbsp Peanuts
  • ¼ cup Carrot
  • 2 Onions
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • ½ tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Channa dal
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • 2 Spring Curry leaves
  • 3 Dry chili
  • Salt (As per taste)
  1. Dry roast for a minute.



  2. Season it with oil, mustard, channa and urad dal, peanuts, chili and curry leaves.



  3. Add in Onions and carrots.



  4. Add in water and salt.



  5. Wheat Semiya or Vermicelli Semiya is ready to serve.



  6. Wheat Semiya or Wheat Vermicelli is ready to serve.



  1. You can also add Green peas, Capsicum.
  2. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
