Karachi Halwa/Bombay Halwa/Corn Flour Halwa is a healthy sweet recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Ingredients used in this recipe are corn flour, pinch of turmeric powder for coloring, cashew nuts, raisins, sugar, ghee. Halwas can be made with carrots, ash gourd, banana, apply, moon dal etc.

How to make Karachi Halwa, Bombay Halwa, Corn Flour Halwa:

Firstly add in oil, cashew nuts, raisins and fry till golden brown and keep it aside.

Take a cake pan and grease them with oil.

Take a bowl and add in Corn Flour, water and give a mix without any lumps.

Mix corn flour and water without any lumps.

Heat a pan and in little water, allow it boil.

Now add in mixed corn flour mix and keep on stirring to avoid any lumps.

Add in turmeric powder(for coloring), even we can add any food color of our choice.

Add in ghee and give a mix until the ghee is well absorbed.

Continue to cook until the halwa starts thicken.

  • Mixing bowl
  • Pan
  • 1 cup Corn flour
  • 3 cups Water
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • ¼ tsp Cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • Pinch of turmeric powder (Or any food color of your choice)
  • 2 tbsp Cashew nuts and raisins
  1. Firstly take a bowl and add in cornflour, water and give a mix without any lumps.

  2. Fry cashew nuts and raisins in oil or ghee and then keep it aside.

  3. Now heat a pan and add in little water and sugar.

  4. Allow it to melt completely.

  5. Then add in mixed corn flour mix and food color of your choice.

  6. And then give a mix without any lumps.

  7. Now add in ghee and keep stirring until the halwa mixtures observes ghee completely.

  8. And then add in fried nuts and cardamom powder and give a mix.

  9. keep cooking until the halwa looks glossy and then transfer it into another pan or tray.

  10. Allow it rest for 30 minutes or until the halwa sets completely.

  11. Finally cut and serve halwa.
