Hayagreeva maddi is a traditional and healthy sweet recipe, it is one of the Udupi, Karnataka special recipe. So, the ingredients used in this recipe are channa dal, jaggery, country sugar, cardamom powder, cashew nuts, raisins, oil, ghee, pinch of salt, grated coconut.

How to make Ha yagreeva madd recipe:

Firstly soak channa dal for one hour.

Pressure cook channa dal for 5 whistles and keep it aside.

Heat a pan and add in oil, cashew nuts and raisins. Fry till golden brown.

Now add in cooked channa dal and give a mix.

Add in jaggery or country sugar.

Hayagreeva maddi

Hayagreeva maddi is a traditional Udupi special dessert recipe. It is one of the healthy sweet recipe.

  • Pan
  • Bowl for soaking
  • ½ cup Channa dal
  • ½ cup Jaggery or Country sugar
  • 1 tsp Cardamom powder
  • ½ cup Grated coconuts
  • 1 tbsp Cashew nuts
  • 1 tbsp Raisins
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • Water as required
  1. Firstly soak channa dal for one hour.

  2. Pressure cook for 5 whistles and keep it aside.

  3. Then heat a pan and add in oil, cashew nuts and raisins. Fry till golden brown and keep it aside.

  4. In the same pan add in cooked channa dal, jaggery, grated coconut and cardamom powder and give a mix. Cook in low flame for 5 to 7 minutes.

  5. Finally add in fried cashew nuts and raisins and give a mix.

  6. Now the healthy and tasty Hayagreeva maddi is ready to serve.
